The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Goa has started a strong membership drive targeting Scheduled Tribe (ST) communities across all 12 talukas in the state.

The drive aims to build grassroots support and take up long-standing issues of the tribal community, such as political underrepresentation, forest rights, lack of infrastructure, and economic neglect.

This move comes soon after ST leader Vinay Velip and members of the Aadi Brigade joined AAP earlier this week. Their joining was welcomed by Benaulim MLA Capt. Venzy Viegas, Velim MLA Engr. Cruz Silva, and AAP Goa Joint Secretary Prashant Naik during a press meet in South Goa.

At the launch of the campaign, Capt. Venzy Viegas said the tribal community has been ignored for too long and that AAP will highlight their issues in the assembly.

Prashant Naik announced the formation of the AAP Goa Adivasi Taluka-Wise Membership Drive Committee, to be led by Vinay Velip, to strengthen the party’s work in tribal areas.

Vinay Velip said the campaign is a serious effort to ensure that ST voices are heard. He added that AAP will raise tribal issues in the coming assembly session, including demands for political reservation, education, healthcare, land rights, and forest claim settlements.

AAP Goa President Adv. Amit Palekar said that where the ruling government has failed, AAP will step in to give tribal communities the voice they deserve.
