Aam Aadmi Party Benaulim MLA Venzy Viegas launched a career portal on Saturday to help Goan seafarers find job opportunities across the maritime industry.
The event was attended by Capt Shoukat Mukherjee, founder and CEO of Naval Connection (TNC-HRA); Capt Avalon Colaco, Captain Superintendent and Principal of NUSI Maritime Academy Goa; Capt Niranjan D’Gama, Master Mariner and president of the Maritime Union of India; Joseph Fernandes, president of the Goan Seamen Association of India; Chief Engineer Mahesh Shetker, co-founder and executive committee member of the Goa Maritime Officers Association; and former Benaulim ZP member Joseph Pimenta.
The portal offers 100 per cent free registration, verified job opportunities and the option to upload sea-service resumes to improve visibility and career prospects. It already has more than 50 empanelled job providers, offering positions ranging from captain and chief engineer to bartender and housekeeping staff.
The event was attended by young people aspiring to join the maritime industry. They were briefed on the portal’s features and given career guidance by Viegas.
Viegas said that if the youth give the Aam Aadmi Party a chance, they will get a government that works to provide them with the best opportunities in the world.
