The Aam Aadmi Party has been taking Arvind Kejriwal's guarantee for free 24x7 electricity to the homes of every Goan.
In a press release, AAP on Tuesday stated that so far the party has reached out to half of the Goan households and received an average of 80% support for the first guarantee by Kejriwal. The party has been aggressively reaching out to Goans in their own houses and handing out Guarantee Cards to each family to tell them that they can hold the party accountable to their promises after they win the election, and this has met with an overwhelming response from Goans.
The release further states that Kejriwal in his last visit to Goa made a major announcement for Goa stating that when AAP comes to power it will give up to 300 units of free electricity in the state while ensuring 24x7 constant power supply. He also said that all old power bills will be waived off and farmers will get free electricity. Post this major announcement AAP teams have been crisscrossing the state meeting Goans to share this promise with them and explain how it would work. AAP volunteers have so far reached out to 2 lakh houses in Goa and have received 1,76,000 registrations in support of Kejriwal's guarantee, a number that's almost 80% of all those who have reached out.
AAP said the outreach in three key constituencies highlights how deeply unhappy Goans are with the BJP and how they believe only AAP can bring change in Goa. In the constituency of sitting CM Pramod Sawant 86% of households have registered support for the guarantee and for AAP's politics in the state. In the Valpoi constituency of the health minister, 78% of households have shown their support. In the Curchorem constituency of the Power Minister, 74% of households showed confidence in the Kejriwal model, the release stated.
While giving substance to his announcement, AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal has said that he was not making any hollow election promises, as his guarantee has been implemented in Delhi and that 73% of households in Delhi get zero bills and when implemented, this guarantee will ensure 87% people of Goa get zero bills.
"Even in Pramod Sawant's constituency there is an overwhelming support for Kejriwal's guarantee and belief in his model as the future of Goa!" said AAP Goa Convenor Rahul Mhambre.
"The fact of the matter is Goans are tired of the BJP and have overwhelmingly endorsed the Kejriwal model as a solution. No wonder the BJP is terrified of AAP," added Mhambre.
