MARGAO
The Aam Admi Party took the platform of Teachers Day to announce that the party would regularize all contractual teachers if the party forms the next government in Goa in the 2027 Assembly election.
AAP Goa desk in-charge and former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi Marlena said it requires political will to regularize the services of contractual teachers and explained how the AAP government in Punjab has done the same.
AAP Benaulim MLA Capt Viegas pointed out that the BJP has failed Goa's teachers and that AAP will regularise all contractual teachers in the first assembly session of the AAP Government.
The former Delhi CM made the announcement at the conclusion of a panel discussion with teachers at an event organised to felicitate them on the occasion of Teachers day at Benaulim. Apart from contractual teachers the panel discussion featured lecture based teachers, counselling teachers and pre-primary teachers.
Teachers were also conferred the title "Tr" by Former Delhi CM Atishi and AAP Benaulim MLA Capt Venzy Viegas in an event honouring their work and sacrifices
Teachers shared the problems that they were facing in the education sector from low pay, being forced to work outside their scope and all of this with no job security.
Atishi stated that political parties often promise to regularise Contractual teachers but once they come to power then they say the law doesn't allow regularisation. She added that making changes in the law is the job of the legislature and shared how the AAP Govt in Punjab has regularised contractual workers by making changes in the law.
Capt Venzy Viegas pointed out that the BJP lacks the political will to make contractual workers permanent and stated that when AAP forms the Govt, contractual teachers will be regularised in the first assembly session of the AAP Govt.
