State BJP President Sadanand Tanavade said the free power assurance of the Aam Aadmi Party will have no impact on Goans in the ensuing assembly elections in the State.
“The Delhi CM can spew lies in Delhi but it won’t work in Goa. Delhi is Delhi and Goa is Goa. Goans have full faith in the BJP and therefore, even if Kejriwal makes a promise of free power, the people of Goa will not believe it. Nothing will happen,” said Tanavade, while interacting with the media in the party headquarters on Wednesday.
He said the assurance of free power and other freebies offered by AAP will have no bearing on the people of the State in the assembly polls.
“For someone who does not run the government and has no hope of getting elected in future can even offer the moon to the voters. But that’s not how politics works. AAP does not have a single MLA in Goa and therefore he (Kejriwal) can make any announcement,” Tanavde said when queried whether it was possible to give free electricity in the State.
The State BJP chief, however, refused to make any political comment on MGP leader Sudhin Dhavlikar’s meeting with AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal.
“I don’t want to comment on the personal meeting between the two. But whether it is appropriate for a senior-most MLA like Sudin Dhavlikar to go and meet Kejriwal or should it be the other way round is something to chew upon,” Tanavade said.
He, however, chose to push the sensitive issue of rise in petrol price on the Centre stating that the state government had no role in it.
“Petrol price is handled by the Centre. The rate increases due to fluctuations of prices in the international crude oil market. The Centre will take necessary action in the matter,” he said.
