MAPUSA
Mapusa MLA Joshua D’Souza said the councillors have taken a bold step to revise the rate/fee for various services in Mapusa municipal jurisdiction.
He disagreed that the increase in the rate will affect the common man as most of the fee structure that was increased would affect the “luxury segment” of the society.
“All taxes have not been revised. We have not touched the house tax. The common man has not been touched at all. The basic facilities of those who have been suffering due to the pandemic have not been touched in any way. Tax only on the luxury segment has been revised,” D’Souza told The Goan.
He said all the councillors have to be congratulated for having stood by the decision to revise the tax rate.
