‘Govt that razes religious places will not be elected’

MARGAO

Saying that the people of Goa have lived in perfect communal harmony over the years, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Benaulim MLA Churchill Alemao on Wednesday said the people of Goa will not elect a government that will go about razing down religious places of worship.

Training his guns on Aam Admi Party and Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal in connection of the demolition of the church in Delhi, the Benaulim MLA said that AAP cannot escape the blame for doing nothing to save the Church from demolition.

“Records say the Church has been demolished in Delhi which is ruled by AAP headed by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Even if Kejriwal says that the Delhi government is not involved in the demolition, let AAP leaders tell the people what steps had been taken by the party to save the Church”, he told the media.

When the media pointed out to him that the Church has been demolished by the Delhi Development Authority, which does not come under the control of the Delhi government, Churchill shot back “let Kejriwal tell what he had done to stop the demolition of the Church”.

“The people of Goa have lived in peace over the years. The state has been ruled by the MGP, Congress and the BJP, but not a single government had ever demolished any places of worship”, he said, adding that the people of Goa will not accept a government that will go about razing down places of worship.
