The Aam Aadmi party on January 17 conducted ‘Veez Andolan’ meeting in Mandrem constituency. About 150 locals attended the meeting which was addressed by AAP convenor Rahul Mhambre, Adv Prasad Shahpurkar and Umesh Colvalkar.

Around 90 people had brought their electricity bills to the meeting while complaining about high electricity bills. 40 locals of Mandrem present at the meeting joined the Aam Aadmi Party.

“Aam Aadmi Party believes that electricity is a basic need, not luxury. Hence, We promise you today that within 48 hours of AAP forming the govt. Goans will get free electricity upto 200 units and half bills from 200-400 units,” promised Mhambre in his speech.

Mhambre also spoke about how the BJP does not listen to Goans and only listens to their high command which based in Delhi and likened Pramod Sawant to a puppet of this high command.

“There is only one party which runs on the basis of what the people want, that is the Aam Aadmi Party.” said Mhambre

Adv Prasad Shahpurkar pointed out that people of Mandrem were neglected by the traditional political parties and no work was done in interest of the people.

“It is time when people of Mandrem reject the old parties and elect the a govt which works in in interest of common man. May it be electricity, water, roads, education or health,” said Adv Shahpurkar.

Umesh Colvalkar said, “Mandrem faces lot of power cuts and fluctuations. People have to be without electricity for hours which even affects their business. But at the same time, people receive huge bills.” The locals who joined the party were formally inducted in the party by AAP Goa Convenor Mhambre.
