ACB registers case against JE

The ACB has registered an FIR against an Cortalim-based Junior Engineer of the Electricity Dept Vishwanath Bhat for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 18,000 to process an application for an electricity connection.

Bhat’s case came to light after a video began circulating on social media which showed him asking for a bribe and negotiating an amount.

While the ACB took suo motu cognizance of the video, the case was registered after the victim was contacted and his complaint registered. The JE could be arrested depending on progress of the case.
