Kafmar Environmental Services, which owns the de-weeding machine, has strongly vouched for the machine stating that the incident was merely an accident which occurred due to human error.
Speaking to The Goan, Cesar Fenandes said, “The machine has been very capable and it has very efficiently carried out de-weeding and cleaning of floating garbage in the creek right upto Camrabhat.”
Stating that the machine is not actually supposed to carry people, he said, “In my absence the boys probably under pressure, must have taken people. We have strict instructions that they cannot take more than one or two persons on the machine. The incident occurred while people were on inspection after they completed the de-weeding and cleaning of the creek, as promised.”
He, however, said he would not be able to ascertain the loss as he is presently out of station.
Asked if he would seek compensation from the CCP, he said, “I don’t think I will do that. This is an accident. We will soon revive the machine and get back to work.”
