Accident-free New Year in Salcete

MARGAO
Salcete remained relatively accident free on New Year's eve and on Monday as none of the four police stations in
the taluka reported any major or minor accident in the last 24 hours.
Almost all the police stations, including Margao, Colva, Maina-Curtorim and Cuncolim did not register any major accident since Sunday evening, saying that this is perhaps the first time that the New Year went without any road accidents this year.
Colva police station in-charge, PI Filomena Costa informed that though all roads led to Colva beach on New Year's eve, not a single accident case was reported at the police station either last night or on Monday.
The district police had deployed additional police personnel at Colva to regulate the flow of traffic to the beach, as it is believed that the coastal belt played host to hundreds of vehicles since Sunday evening.
Margao Police station in-charge, PI Kapil Nayak, said not a single accident took place from Sunday evening till Monday morning, saying the area within the jurisdiction of Margao police station was accident free.
