Accused in idol desecration case sent to IPHB

The accused, Durari Biju Burman from UP, who allegedly desecrated a Ganesh idol at a residence at Dhangrwadi-Hankhane in Pernem was on Thursday sent to Institute of Psychiatry & Human Behaviour (IPHB).

It may be recalled that the accused Burman allegedly tried to outrage modesty of a woman and later desecrated Ganesh idol. 
The villagers nabbed the accused and after giving him a thrashing handed him over to Pernem Police.   
Pernem PI Sanjay Dalvi said the accused was first treated at GMC Hospital in Bambolim and later referred to IPHB. He will produced in the court for remand.   
Meanwhile, tension still prevailed at Dhangarwadi in Pernem Taluka. 
Panchayat and Forest Minister Rajendra Arlekar has demanded a full-fledged inquiry into the incident.
