Acid attack: Accused gets 7-day police custody

A Mapusa court has remanded the two accused involved in the acid attack to seven days in police custody. Mapusa Police on Thursday produced the two accused “ Narayan Gawas and Sanit Dessai “ before the Judicial Magistrate First Class, Mapusa court, which remanded them to seven days police custody.

 It may be recalled that a 16-year-old girl and her grandmother were injured in an acid attack at their residence in Guirim early on Wednesday morning. Mapusa Police arrested the two accused based on the complaint of the victim girl s father. Meanwhile, the victim girl is yet to be discharged and is undergoing treatment at the District Hospital. PSI Paresh Ramnathkar is investigating the case.

Govt firm on keeping EDMs out from Dec 25-31: Parulekar

Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar on Thursday reiterated the government s stand on keeping out EDM festivals in Goa during the peak season of December 25 to 31. Speaking on the sidelines of an event at the Secretariat in Porvorim, Parulekar commented on reports of availability of early bird passes without declaring the venue for Sunburn.
