Action sought against politicians involved in land grabbing scam

PANAJI

Congress has demanded that action should be taken against all politicians involved in the land grab scam, irrespective of the party the person belongs to.

When questioned on the issue, Cuncolim MLA Yuri Alemao said, “The government should not use it as a pressure tactic on certain ministers or MLAs or whoever is involved. They should be booked immediately.”

Alemao further demanded that the chief minister Pramod Sawant should come out with the report and make those holding positions step down.

“During the Congress regime, people had stepped down pending inquiry,” he said.

When questioned whether action should also be taken if any Congress MLA is involved, Alemao said that anybody who is involved should be brought to book. “There is no question of Congress or BJP, a culprit is a culprit and should be booked,” he said.

Aldona MLA Carlos Ferreira too said that if the police acknowledge the involvement of a politician holding a high position, it is the duty of the CM to as that politician to step down.

“That will give police a completely free hand in the investigation,” he said and opined that Congress always made its people involved in scams step down.

Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress questioned whether the SIT is being used to keep under control all the politicians involved in the land grab scam.

“The whole game is being manipulated to blackmail the politicians involved to keep them under control,” TMC spokesperson Trajano D'Mello stated.

"When the SIT can say that politicians are involved, why can't they disclose their names?" he questioned.
