Activist threatens protest over state of Osia complex

MARGAO

Activist Dattaram Nayak has threatened to stage a protest outside Margao MLA Digambar Kamat’s residence due to the poor condition of the Osia commercial complex and the SGPDA mega retail market.

Speaking to reporters, Nayak highlighted the longstanding issue with the non-functional lift at the Osia commercial building. “Just last week, the fire brigade had to rescue people stuck in the lift,” he said, questioning how elderly citizens can access offices in tall buildings.

Nayak pointed out that the Osia complex houses crucial government offices like the RTO, SGPDA, TCP, Commercial Taxes, and Registration.

He insisted that the government must ensure functional lifts so that the public can access these offices easily for official purposes.

He has urged District Collector Asvin Chandru to form a team of officials from various departments to assess the situation at the Osia commercial complex. “I request the Collector to share the status report with me, so we can file a petition in the High Court for justice,” he added.
