MARGAO
South Goa District Collector Ajit Roy has come under fire of the anti-track doubling and coal transportation protestors, with the latter demanding his immediate replacement for what they termed as his failure in discharging his duties and abdicating his responsibilities.
Goyant Kollso Naka Co-convenor Abhijit Prabhudesai said the people of Goa have no faith in the South Goa District Collector, saying he has betrayed the people of the State.
He said when the people reached the Chandor railway crossing at midnight, there was no movement of men, machinery and material at the level crossing by the Railways.
He pointed out that when the government was aware that no work would take place at the Chandor level crossing, it was the duty of the District Collector to issue an order and inform the people that work would not take place.
“If the District Collector had to issue an order stating that work would not take place, the people would not have been put to hardships,” he said.
Asserting that the government is fully responsible for the situation, Abhijit said the Collector has failed in his duty and abdicated his position.
“If the Collector does not revoke his order, he is not fit for this position and should be immediately replaced,” he demanded, warning that the turnout of people at Davorlim would be in thousands if the Collector does not give a favourable decision and revoke his order.
