Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Saturday said additional funds would be provided to Zilla panchayats in a bid to promote rural development in the State.
He was speaking to reporters after he and his wife, Sulakshana, exercised their franchise at the Kothambi polling station in Pale.
“Additional funds for development will be provided to Zilla panchayats and special efforts will be made to promote rural development in Goa.”
“Every election is different and BJP will definitely get a majority at this ZP election,” said Sawant.
Meanwhile, as many as 21,786 males and 20,914 females from the Mayem, Karapur-Sarvan, Latambarcem and Pale ZP constituencies in Bicholim taluka took part in the ZP elections, with an overall voter turnout of about 75%.
The voter turnout at the four different ZP constituencies were Mayem (72.50%), Pale (77.39%), Karapur-Sarvan (63.73%) and Latambarcem (77.39%).
Two Covid patients, one each from Latambarcem and Mulgao villages, also cast their ballots.
The election process was peaceful and no untoward incident was reported, stated presiding officer Deepak Vaigankar and Bicholim Mamlatdar Pravinjay Pandit.
