Chief Minister Pramod Sawant inspected the dilapidated administrative complex at Pernem and interacted with the government staff.
Sawant was accompanied by Mandrem MLA Jit Arolkar, Pernem MLA Pravin Arlekar, Pernem Municipal Council Chairperson Siddhesh Pednekar, Pernem Mamlatdar Anant Malik, Pernem Deputy Collector Deepak Vaingankar and other officials.
A number of government offices are located in the administrative complex and employees put forth their difficulties before the chief minister.
The employees have demanded that their offices be shifted to some other building or else, the government renovates the complex or constructs a new block for government offices. They pointed out that the government owns around 16,000 sq. mtrs of land in Pernem which could be utilised to construct a complex to house government offices.
Virnoda Sarpanch Sitaram Parab said Pernem taluka needs a proper administrative complex and suggested that some offices in the current administrative building could be shifted elsewhere and the space could be allotted to other departments.
