The State government has revised the rules and criteria for admission to post-graduate courses, both degree and diploma, in medicine at the Goa Medical College to provide a quota for the various reserved categories, including a 12% quota of seats for the Scheduled Tribe (ST) communities.
According to the new rules, the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), which is the counselling agency for the State quota seats, will prepare the merit list based on NEET marks.
The reserved quotas for each category have been specified as 2% for Scheduled Castes (SCs), 12% for Scheduled Tribes (STs), 27% for Other Backward Communities (OBCs) and 5% for Persons with Disability (PwDs).
Also, seats vacant in the PwD category shall be de-reserved and added
to the respective category (GEN/ST/OBC) and in case a seat remains vacant due to non-availability of eligible candidate belonging to SC, ST and/or OBC categories, they will be offered to candidates from the general category.
