OLD GOA
With water not flowing through their taps even on Saturday morning as expected, several people from the affected areas started visiting the Cujira junction to inquire about the delay in releasing water supply in their areas.
Among them were many senior citizens from Alto-Santa Cruz, locals from Curca, activists and panchas.
Speaking to The Goan, a senior citizen from Alto-Santa Cruz Sadananda Harkantra informed that he has visited the site to know why there is a delay in releasing water supply to their area.
Another senior citizen informed that the affected people need to know about the exact status of the repair work so that they are made aware of the time it would take for normal water supply to resume.
A local from Curca explained how it is becoming difficult for him to make arrangements for water in his household.
“During earlier times, we used to rely on well water. But now we are used to tap water and hence it is very difficult to draw water from wells,” he stated while informing that without water they are having a harrowing time.
Curca panch Gautam Naik, who has been making regular rounds at Cujira informed that villagers are questioning him about when the water supply would be resumed.
“When we ask the engineers, they say tomorrow but that tomorrow never comes,” he opined.
