CANACONA
A demand pending for many decades finally took shape when Deputy Speaker and Canacona MLA Isidore Fernandes launched the work to construct a road at Battem-Sadolxem on Monday.
Fernandes launched the Rs 30 lakh project in the presence of local panch member Vipin Prabhugaonkar, BJP Mandal president Nandeep Bhagat, former headmaster Ulhas Bhatikar, the contractor Devindra Naik and PWD (Roads) AE Elvis D'Souza.
“Locals had been dreaming of this road since independence,” stated a resident and former headmaster Ulhas Bhatikar.
“Many locals now residing in Mumbai and various parts of Goa such as Vasco, Margao and Ponda visited the site of work and they were excited that their dream for a road was finally coming true,” he added.
