After sports, cultural marks on cards

Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude has assured that within this academic year, merit marks for performing and other artists would be implemented thus allowing those culturally inclined to be on par with those who take part in sports.

"Cultural merit marks the policy in the pipeline in this academic year, the students will get marks," Gaude said stressing that it was important that folk art and other cultural traditions were transmitted from one generation to
the next.
The minister also promised that the pending demands for Ravindra Bhavans were being worked out especially in places like Pernem and Sanvordem while offering no assurance
on the demand for Bardez made by several legislators most prominently Michael Lobo as well as others.
"In Pernem for the Ravindra Bhavan, we have transferred the required land from Housing Board to Department of Art & Culture. In Sanguem, the WRD transferred land but we need more land so we have requested WRD to part with additional land," Gaude said.
