But let me make it clear that my task will be to resolve issues one at a time,” he told the media after assuming office in the morning. r That Agnelo meant business and that he has plans to tone up the administration in the civic body became evident when he checked into the municipal building exactly at 9.30 am, only to find many employees reporting late for work. r Chairperson Babita Angle had also made her presence felt in the morning, but many a staff and employees were found reporting late for work. “I have taken serious cognizance of employees reporting late for work. This will not be tolerated any longer,” Agnelo said, while mulling action against the erring employees. r Saying that revenue recoveries of outstanding arrears running into crores of rupees will receive attention from him, the Chief Officer said that he would put a mechanism in place to recover the tax arrears at the earliest. r The officer also cleared correspondence relating to the disposal of dead bodies, leaving strict instructions to dispose of five bodies on Monday, followed by another five on Tuesday. “I will ensure that all the unclaimed bodies cleared by the police will be disposed of by the Municipality”, he said. r The Chief Officer also called the NIC officials for discussions on Monday with a view to work out a mechanism to attend to IT problems faced by the Municipality. r Agnelo is the fifth Chief officer to assume officer during the current term. Though he will be holding additional charge of the civic body in addition to his main charge as district Additional Collector, Agnelo has disclosed plans to make his presence felt in the Civic body in the morning session and attend to cases in the collectorate in the evening.
