Agonda ward set to get new road

CANACONA
After getting water and electricity facilities, a ward in Agonda is set to get a new road as well.

Canacona MLA Isidore Fernandes launched the work to construct a new road at Tourem Moll in Agonda in the presence of Agonda Sarpanch Badal Naikgaunkar, Canacona Comunidade President Pandurang (Dhiraj) Naikgaunkar and others.

Speaking on the occasion, Fernandes recalled that during his campaigning in the 2017 assembly polls, he was moved by the plight of people in Tourem Moll who had been without a road and proper water and electricity supply.

“Even though they had not made a specific demand, I was keen to provide them with this basic infrastructure. Accordingly, a water pipeline was extended to the locality and electricity was extended with a proper overhead alignment.”

“Now, we have taken up construction of a road. As elected representatives, we must make available these basic amenities to the people,” said Fernandes.

A PWD engineer said the 600-metre road to Tourem Moll, which is being constructed at Rs 22 lakh, will be ready within a month.

Agonda Sarpanch Badal Naikgaunkar thanked the MLA for providing water, electricity and road to the residents of Tourem Moll and also expressed his gratitude to the Canacona Comunidade President Pandurang Naikgaunkar.

Others present at the event included Panch Barsat Naikgaunkar, CMC Councillor Shubham Komarpant, former Agonda sarpanch Shaba Naikgaunkar, BJP Block President Nandip Bhagat, Suraj Naikgaunkar and social worker Estev Rodrigues.
