BELAGAVI
While the indefinite strike by Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation’s (KSRTC) employees entered the tenth day on Friday, affecting bus services across the state, commuters from the Belagavi region have thanked Goa’s Kadamba Transport Corporation (KTC) for continuing services to Belagavi and North Karnataka region.
Scores of people from both Goa and Belagavi can commute for their work, shopping and other purposes.
As the North West KRTC, which plies more than a dozen of buses between Belagavi and Goa has stopped its buses, commuters have requested the KTC to increase the number of its buses to Belagavi and North Karnataka region.
The KSRTC has four road transport corporations in Karnataka and employees are on strike since April 7, demanding wage as per the 6th Pay Commission.
Travellers from Goa and Belagavi region have got a big respite as KTC buses between Karnataka and Goa have continued plying without any hindrance.
“A large number of people are travelling to Goa every day either for business or to work as labourers. Hence, we have facilitated the arrival and departure of KTC buses that are plying regularly between Belagavi and Goa,” NWKRTC Manager Lamani said.
While commuters from Belagavi and Goa have thanked the KTC, the shopkeepers and showroom owners from the Belagavi market have said the KTC services have been a blessing as there is a good number of Goans who are visiting the Belagavi market.
