Agricultural census from June 13

PANAJI: The Directorate of Planning, Statistics and Evaluation, is the nodal agency for conducting Agriculture Census in the State. The 10th Agriculture Census 2015-16 will be commencing from July with the reference year 2015-16.

A pilot survey is being conducted from June 13, in two villages - Amona, Bicholim taluka and Nuvem in Salcete taluka.

Enumerators appointed for the task will be visiting the operational holders in the aforesaid villages to gather related data. The general public is therefore requested to co-operate with the enumerators in dispensing the requisite information.

Seven booked under COTPA ActPANAJI: The Bicholim Joint Mamlatdar, along with police constable conducted raids under COTPA Act at Sanquelim in Bicholim taluka and seven offenders were booked and fine of Rs 1900 was imposed on them for violation of section 4 and 6 of the COTPA Act. Joint Mamlatdar has also given instructions to shopkeepers to display board of 'No Smoking' as per specification given in COTPA Act.
