The solidarity protest was a part of the nation-wide campaign launched by Communist Party of India on the backdrop of the farmers' agitations in various parts of
the country.
Speaking to the press, AITUC (Goa) general secretary Christopher Fonseca informed that around 1.5 lakh farm labour including over 30,000 Goan farmers are also affected by the policies of the repesent regime.
He voiced the demand for minimum support price as recommended by Dr Swaminathan Commission, a comprehensive loan waiver to all farmers and fresh credit for new crops, withdrawal of the anti-farmer notification banning cattle trade, implementation of MGNREGA by linking it with agriculture, monthly pension to farmers above the age of 60 years and withdrawal of the Land Acquisition Act, 2014.
