The Selaulim Dam in Sanguem began to overflow from the spillway on Tuesday morning, but visitors eager to catch a breathtaking view of the overflowing spillway were unhappy to be charged a fee for the botanical garden located in the vicinity of dam.

The spillway began to overflow at about 8.50 am on Tuesday, three days later in comparison to last year. WRD Assistant Engineer M S Shekhawat has requested the public visiting the dam to take caution while visiting the scenic beauty of the dam. Meanwhile, visitors to the dam were unhappy to be charged a fee of Rs 20 per adult and Rs 10 per child by the forest department to enter the botanical garden located in the vicinity of dam. Some were found arguing with forest department officials that they should not have been charged the fees as they had no intention to visit the botanical garden, but were instead, only interested in visiting the dam. Enquiries have revealed that the fees were being charged by the forest officials and not by the WRD. When contacted, Shekhawat confirmed that the WRD did not levy any fee from visitors to see the Selaulim Dam.
Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar has assured to appoint a consultant for the development of Sidhanath Parvat in Ponda taluka.
