PERNEM
Former deputy chief minister Babu Ajgaonkar has backed former Warkhand sarpanch Pradeep Kambli who is contesting as Independent candidate for the Torsem ZP elections.
Speaking at a public meeting in Vazari-Pernem, Ajgaonkar said he has declared his Independent candidate and has requested the BJP to withdraw its ZP candidate, Raghoba Kambli, for the Torsem ZP polls.
“We are still in the BJP. We raise our voice against some things because we do not agree with them. The central leaders are capable and take decisions by taking the common workers into confidence. But some BJP leaders in the State are working to end the party,” said Ajgaonkar.
“I was offered the next Assembly ticket from Pernem Taluka by BJP, but it required me to support their ZP candidate in Torsem. I rejected that offer and stand with my ZP candidate. I have shown BJP that their declared candidate for Torsem ZP has not worked for the people, whereas the candidate I have declared has carried out significant grassroots-level work.”
Ajgaonkar criticised Pernem MLA Pravin Arlekar, claiming he had not done any development in Pernem constituency.
“Arlekar should announce which developmental project he has brought to Pernem constituency.”
