MARGAO
With the party leadership nominating him for the Margao seat, Deputy Chief Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar kicked off his campaign on Thursday, moving door-to-door with local party leaders, exuding confidence he wins the seat for the party if Madgavkars stand by him and accept him as their own.
Kick-starting his campaign in the presence of party leaders, including Sharmad Raiturkar near the ESI hospital, Ajgaonkar took potshots at Opposition leader Digambar Kamat, blaming the Margao MLA for the ills plaguing the commercial capital.
“My party has sent me to Margao. I need not tell what I will do for the people because we have been doing work. I made Pernem No. 1 constituency with a host of projects. I have the same capacity to work for Margao and make it a model city”, he added.
Saying the people of Comba, the BJP heartland, have welcomed him with love and affection, Ajgaonkar assured that he can make Margao No. 1 if given an opportunity to represent them in the Assembly.
Promising to get a bus stand for Margao on par with international standards and resolving the Sonsodo imbroglio, he said the South Goa district should be equipped with all facilities so that no patient from the South is shifted to the Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim.
Saying he is born and brought up in Margao before he headed to the North to represent the people of Pernem in the Assembly on four occasions, he reminded the people that he has been a former two-time councillor of the Margao Municipal Council.
