Ajgaonkar retains hold on all p'yats in Pernem

Tourism Minister and Pernem MLA Manohar (Babu) Ajgaonkar retained his hold on all 11 panchayats in Pernem constituency, after the candidates backed by him emerged victorious in Casarvarem, Chandel-Hassapur and Alorna panchayats.
The elections were held on Sunday and the results were declared within two hours at Shree Bhagvati High School, Pernem, on Monday.
In the by-polls, Prashant Naik won from Ward 1 of Palyem Panchayat by 150 votes.
Some votes in Alorna Panchayat were declared invalid after some people voted for all the candidates.
In Casarvarem Panchayat, the winners were Karishma Kishor Warang (Ward 1), Shamsundar Chandrakant Naik (Ward 2), Suvarna Atmaram Keni (Ward 3), Pandurang Sadashiv Parsekar (Ward 4) and Ramesh Bhiva Palyekar (Ward 5).
In Alorna Panchayat, Vishal Vilas Naik was elected unopposed from Ward 1, while other winners were Divya Dayanand Naik (Ward 2), Urmila Ulhas Parab (Ward 3), Ashwini Anant Parab (Ward 4), Rama Bhikaro Harijan (Ward 5), Narayan
Tukaram Raul (Ward 6) and Antonio Rodrigues
(Ward 7).
In Chandel-Hassapur Panchayat, the winners were Laxmi Sakharam Naik (Ward 1), Atchut Malik (Ward 2), Rashika Mahadev Shetkar (Ward 3), Tulshidas Vasudev Gawas (Ward 4) and Santosh Mahadev Malik (Ward 5).

Sarvesh, Vishant win by-polls
in Kundaim, Marcaim
PONDA: Sarvesh Gaude won the by-election to Ward 1 of Kundaim Panchayat by securing 327 votes, while Vishant Naik won from Ward 2 of Marcaim Panchayat by polling 289 votes.
The by-election was necessitated after Suresh Naik from Marcaim and Vidya Kundaikar from Kundaim resigned.
The voting to these two wards on Sunday recorded 82.19% in Kundaim and 80.82% in Marcaim.
In Ward 1 of Kundaim Panchayat, there are 573 voters (male - 286, female - 287), out of which 471 had cast their votes (male - 241, female - 230), while in Ward 2 of Marcaim Panchayat, there are 511 voters (male - 247, female - 264), out of which 413 cast votes (male - 207, female - 206).
In Kundaim, Sarvesh Gaude polled 327 votes, while Sandesh Naik secured 137 votes and in Marcaim, Vishant Naik got 289 votes and Uday Naik got 118 votes.

EDC loans: 25 seek settlement under OTS scheme

PANAJI: Managing Director of EDC (Economic Development Corporation of Goa) SV Vernekar, has informed that as many as 25 borrowers have approached EDC for loan settlement under a one-time-settlement (OTS) scheme, which was launched two months ago.Vernekar said, "Of the 25 cases, we have already begun processing 15 cases."Sometime ago, EDC had come out with an OTS scheme to recover its non-performing assets (NPAs) on account of term loans it had given more than 15 years ago.…
