PERNEM
Tourism Minister Manohar (Babu) Ajgaonkar on Thursday appealed to the public and land owners to support development works for the progress of Pernem taluka.
He was speaking during the launch of beautification works from the Malpem junction to Viscount high school, Pernem. The beautification works are being undertaken by the tourism department at a cost of Rs 6.18 crore.
While appealing to public and land owners to support development works for the progress of Pernem taluka, Ajgaonkar said people should offer suggestions on the kind of development works required.
Taking a swipe at Mandrem MLA Dayanand Sopte for criticising him on the agitation at Mopa airport, Ajgaonkar said, “Sopte should, instead, focus on the kind of jobs available to people of Pernem taluka instead of criticising me.”
“I had stopped the work (at Mopa aiirport) as locals had not given any opportunity during the ongoing construction works. Let’s join hands and achieve development in Pernem taluka,” said Ajgaonkar.
PMC Chairperson Shraddha Mashelkar, vice-chairperson Prashant Gadekar, councillors Siddhesh Pednekar, Gajanan Sawal Dessai, Suvidha Teli and Deepak Mandrekar, Virnoda Sarpanch Bharat Gawade and others were among those present.
