Akash Byjus, a leading exam preparation education service in the country, on Friday carried out ‘Junk the Plastic’ campaign at Miramar beach with the help of its students. The plastic waste, which is becoming a major problem in terms of harming the environment, from the shore was collected and removed.
The plastic waste was becoming a serious problem at the beach that is visited by a large number of tourists everyday. Awareness about the adverse effects of plastic on the environment was held with an aim to encourage recycling of plastic waste.
The campaign was inaugurated at the Juhu beach in Mumbai last week. In this week, beaches in Goa and Kerala are being cleaned.
More than 100 students, teachers and other staff from the Panaji and Margao centers collected plastic waste.
Divisional Director of Akash Byjus Amit Singh Rathod said, “We believe it is our responsibility to create ideal citizens. Through this cleanliness drive, we are trying to create awareness and love for nature.”
Akash Byjus plans to launch a similar campaign in other coastal cities of the country.
