Tension prevailed at Goltim-Navelim in Divar after the sword at the statue of Shivaji Maharaj was found broken on Friday night.
According to locals, the incident came to light when a local Rajesh Shirodkar noticed that the sword was broken when he had gone to light diya for the statue.
Upon noticing the same, the locals were alerted about the issue and the Old Goa police were informed of the incident.
The police conducted panchanama at the site and the villagers then filed a police complaint against some persons who had objected to the installation of the statue.
