Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) MLA Viresh Borkar has slammed the government for restricting the Winter Session of the Assembly to just four days.

He has further demanded that the business day Friday be included in the Session and has stated that he would write to the Governor and the Speaker over the same.

Speaking to reporters in Panaji on Friday, Borkar said of the four days, the first day will be spent on Governor’s address.

“And we will be left with only three days to put forth issues affecting the common man like coal transportation, double-tracking, etc., but there will be hardly any time to raise such issues,” Borkar stated.

He further pointed out that the business day i.e. Friday is not included in the Winter Session, which puts a question mark on the logic behind the same.

“Friday is very important as resolutions, bills, amendments are moved on this day. We were prepared to introduce the POGO Bill, Land Protection Bill, Khazan Land Amendment Bill, Labour Amendment Bill, and others but that won’t be possible now,” the MLA said.

“I will write to the Governor as well as the Speaker to at least extend the Session by a day to include Friday so that important business could be taken up,” he informed.
