It was a moment of pride for the delegation from Aldona to welcome a son of the soil who had been elevated as cardinal of the Catholic Church.
The delegation led by Congress MLA Carlos Alvares Ferreira, Aldona Parish Priest Fr Tomas Lobo and Aldona Sarpanch Ashwin De Souza, Nelson Figueredo, Flavia da Costa, Carmo Cruz, Louis Pinto, Savio Rodrigues, Sandhya Fernandes, Rosario Fernandes, Simon Peter Pereira, Armando Ferreira Alvares and Daniel Filipe Alvares Ferreira welcomed Cardinal Filipe Neri Ferrão on his arrival at Dabolim airport.
The Aldona MLA said he was happy that Cardinal Ferrão had arrived in Goa and was confident that the new cardinal would discharge his pastoral duties effectively.
"The cardinal hails from Aldona and as the Aldona MLA, we have come with a delegation from Aldona constituency to receive Cardinal Ferrão at the Airport,” he said.
