All eyes on Modi’s Hubbali visit today

PANAJI
The State will have all eyes on Prime Minister Narendra Modi as he visits Hubballi on Thursday to launch the National Youth Festival in the city.

His visit comes at a time when the  Goa government has locked horns with its counterpart in Karnataka over  the Mhadei issue, and the Goa government’s delegation visited Delhi on  the eve of the launch in poll-bound Karnataka.

CM Pramod Sawant  earlier vowed to meet PM Modi to seek to revoke the DPR but it didn’t  materialise. Sawant justified by saying that inter-state disputes are  handled by the Home Ministry.

With Hubbali barely 160 km from  Goa where the matter could be placed before the PM in the presence of  its counterparts in Karnataka and around the project site, the  Sawant-led delegation chose to cover a 2,000 km approx distance to raise  the issue before Shah and Shekhawat.
