All eyes on Old Goa p’yat over decision on structure licences

OLD GOA

All eyes will be on the Se Old Goa panchayat as it would take a decision on the revocation of the construction and subsequent renewal licences issued to the structure which has come up in heritage precincts of St Cajetan church.

The decision will be taken at the fortnightly meeting of the panchayat scheduled on Thursday.

However, reliable sources in the panchayat informed that authorities are likely to put the issue to vote at the fortnightly meeting, in which the decision on revocation of the license will be approved by a majority.

“We have decided to pass a resolution to revoke the licences,” one of the panchas informed The Goan.

It may be recalled that the Old Goa panchayat had initially issued a stop-work order on November 2 to Jose Maria de Gouveia de Pinto, Survarna Suraj Lotlikar and Sumermal Jain of Corvus Urban Infrastructures Ltd.

Later, the panchayat had issued show-cause notices to the three respondents, asking why construction and renewal licences should not be revoked.

While Survarna Lotlikar had replied that they are not associated with the structure anymore as they had already sold the same to Corvus Urban Infrastructures Ltd, the other two respondents had termed the show-cause notice as vague as no specific details were provided as to violations of ASI and CRZ permissions.
