In a major boost to the Trinamool Congress, former vice-president of BJP from Porvorim Sandeep Arjun Vazarkar along with Sarpanch of Salvador do Mundo panchayat Antonio Fernandes, Panch Suvarnalata Parsekar, Deputy Sarpanch Roshni Sawaikar, Panch members - Bhagwant Naik, Sandesh Mandrekar, Vijay Chodankar and Smita Kalangutkar joined the party.

In a press release, TMC stated that the inductions took place in the presence of Rajya Sabha MP and AITC National vice-president Luizinho Faleiro and TMC leaders Kiran Kandolkar and Ganpat Gaonkar on Wednesday at the party office in Panaji.

Addressing the media, Sandeep Vazarkar said, "Strong opposition is a must. Mamata is a strong lady and is determined to end the misrule of the BJP in Goa. That is why we’ve joined the TMC."

Criticizing Porvorim's Rohan Khaunte, he said, "Despite being a minister for two and a half years, he hasn’t done any development. We want jobs and development for our children and for that we all will come together to throw the BJP out."
