The Parra Citizens Forum Association will organise the annual ‘Festival of Stars’ and the ‘All-Goa Carol Singing’ competition at Parra Tinto on December 22.

The events aim to preserve Goa’s festive traditions and celebrate the spirit of Christmas.

The star-making contest will be held in two categories: All-Goa and Calangute-Siolim constituency, while the carol singing competition will be open to participants from across the State.

The star contest will begin at 10 am, followed by the carol singing competition at 6 pm.

Forum President Pradip Moraskar announced that this year marks the 10th edition of the event.

“The contests are organized to keep the tradition alive among Goans,” he said. Cash prizes totaling Rs 25,000 for the first place and awards for 15 other positions, along with consolation prizes of Rs 5,000, will be offered. Every participant will also receive a token of appreciation.

Calangute MLA Michael Lobo encouraged the youth to construct eco-friendly stars and participate in the event.

“The festive season has just begun. After the success of the ‘Festival of Lights,’ we invite everyone to witness the ‘Festival of Stars,’ enjoy the carol singing competition, and celebrate with music and festivities,” he said.

Parra Sarpanch Chandanand Harmalkar, Siolim MLA Delilah Lobo, and Parra Deputy Sarpanch Daniel Lobo also urged residents to take part in the event.

Entries for the star contest will be accepted free of charge at the venue on December 22 between 10 am and 5.30 pm.

Organizers have mandated that stars be crafted from traditional materials like wood, while the use of plastic and thermocol is prohibited to promote sustainability.
