In a unique gesture during Christmas, Street Providence has offered to rescue Goans suffering from homelessness and mental disabilities across the State.
“No Goan should be homeless this Christmas in Goa. We urge the general public to assist by reporting abandoned individuals in need of shelter to the nearest police station. Together, let’s bring hope and dignity to those in need,” said Donald Fernandes of Street Providence.
Public are requested to click a picture and take a video of the homeless person and send it via WhatsApp to 8380097564.
“The public are then requested to wait for a reply and to follow up with the nearest police station. Get the police to investigate and ensure that the police call our number in front of you. Rest we will take over from here,” said Fernandes.
Fernandes stated that most inspectors of Goa Police have been informed about this drive and have supported this initiative.
“Majority of the poor Goan homeless will be mentally disturbed and we will get them admitted into IPHB for stabilising for a few days before moving them into our homes,” Fernandes added.
