PANAJI
Popular online market-place, Amazon India, has witnessed more than 65% growth in the unit sales of large appliances like washing machines, fridges and air-conditioners (ACs) in Goa.
The company’s senior management informed about this at a press conference in Panaji.
Until around three years ago, Amazon India was not even present in the large appliances category. But over the last three years, it has entered this category and has also rapidly grown in Goa and also in other parts of India.
Suchit Subhas, director “ large appliances & furniture, Amazon India, said, “We realized that it is not possible for customers to find all brands of large appliances under one roof in a physical store. That is what led us to enter this category. We have added over 1,000 appliances by top brands.”
Now, with a tap on your mobile phone screen, you can order a fridge, a washing machine or an AC from Amazon app. Subhas further said that Amazon takes responsibility for delivering as well as installing large appliances bought from it.
Not just that, the customers can even schedule the delivery time so that the product is delivered when they are at home and they can also inspect it to see if it is fine or not. Moreover, the company is also giving its commitment that it will deliver and install a product within 48 hours of making a purchase.
“We follow the policy of open-box delivery for large appliances. Our delivery person will open the box to show you that the product is fine. If there are damages, it will be replaced,” Subhas added.
For large appliances, customers typically like going to a neighbourhood store for few reasons. One, the amount involved is high. Two, they are not sure that a large product can be shipped and installed safely.
By taking care of installing and by having a policy like “open box delivery”, Amazon has shown its
commitment to providing customers value for their money.
Amazon India already has large appliances from brands like Whirlpool, Samsung, IFB, LG, Haier, Toshiba, Voltas, Sanyo and Comfee by Carrier.
