Changes in the Goa Municipalities Act to abolish the secret ballot vote for no-confidence motions against chairpersons and vice-chairpersons, besides tweaking the panchayat law to streamline the process of grant and renewal of licences by the village bodies were among ten legislations introduced by the government on Tuesday in the Goa legislative assembly.
The changes in the panchayat law proposed by the government aim to specify the process for bringing into play the deeming clause for the time-bound grant of licences applied for with the panchayat.
Two other bills introduced by the government deal with land use and land titles -- The Goa Land Revenue Code (Amendment) Bill, 2023, and the Goa Town and Country Planning (Amendment) Bill, 2023.
Other amendment bills introduced by the government include the Goa Private Universities (Amendment) Bill, 2023, The Goa Appropriation Acts (Repeal) Bill, 2023, The Indian Stamp (Goa Amendment) Bill, 2023, The Goa Regularisation of Unauthorized Construction (Amendment) Bill, 2023, The Goa (Regulation of Land Development and Building Construction) (Amendment) Bill, 2023 and The Goa Value Added Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2023.
