The Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) has busted another interstate drug racket by arresting a key supplier from Mumbai.
In a pre-dawn operation on Sunday, the ANC team travelled to Mumbai and arrested Ashraf Shaikh, a resident of Bandra (West). He was then brought to Goa and produced in court, which sent him to police custody for seven days.
According to the ANC, this arrest is connected to a case on June 21, when Krushna Sonkellu, originally from Dapodi in Pune and staying in Arambol, was caught with methamphetamine.
“During questioning, Sonkellu revealed that he had sourced the drugs from Ashraf Shaikh in Mumbai. The ANC team tracked Shaikh using technical surveillance,” an official said, adding that DySP ANC Nerlon Albuquerque monitored the operation under the direct supervision of SP ANC Sunita Sawant.
