Anjuna Police on Wednesday busted an international sex racket by arresting two Russian pimps and rescued three Russian women at Marna-Siolim.
According to police, the accused were contacting customers and running the racket for the last 4-5 months, under the guise of being booksellers.
After receiving a tip-off that a sex racket was being run in Siolim, Anjuna police contacted the suspects through a decoy.
The decoy was sent near the Siolim health centre on Wednesday at about 3.30 pm. One accused, Constantine Morozil (36), allegedly took advance from the decoy and assured to come at 5.30 pm along with a girl.
Accordingly PSI Vishwajeet Chodankar and his team under the guidance of PI C LPatil laid a trap and nabbed Morozil when he came with the girl.
Acting on information received from the accused, police raided a hotel in Siolim, and arrested Vasily Karavev (44). They also found two girls in the room.
According to police, the accused had begun the sex trade since the last five months, under the guise of contacting customers to sell books at Anjuna, Vagator and other coastal areas in the State.
Incidentally, Karavev was arrested in 2009 by the Anti-Narcotic bureau of the police department in a drugs case.
Police has seized two mobile phones and a scooter from the accused, while the women have been sent to Apna Ghar, Merces.
