In less than 24 hours, Anjuna Police on Sunday nabbed a thief allegedly involved in housebreaking and recovered the stolen goods and cash.
The accused was identified as Yallappa Satyappagoi (20), police informed.
As per details, on June 5, 2021, an Iran national complained to the police that some unknown persons broke the back door of a house she had rented at Monteiro-vaddo, Anjuna and decamped with valuable items.
Soon after receiving the complaint, a team of Anjuna police under PSI Akshay Parsekar launched a search operation around the village.
During investigation, the accused person, Yallappa Satyappagoi son of Honnappa and resident Zorwada, Anjuna, was arrested.
On questioning, he confessed his involvement in the crime and on his disclosure the stolen items were recovered from his possession, which include ‘Macebook Apple’, one mobile phone (Nokia make) and cash Rs 12,000.The accused is presently in police custody.
Police have booked and arrested the accused under relevant sections of the IPC.
Along with PSI Parsekar, the investigation team included police constables Ajinkya Ghogale, Rajesh Gokharnkar, Sarvesh Salgaonkar, Krishan Bugde and Prabhakar Maulingkar.
Anjuna Police is investigating further.
