Annie Coelho is Calangute sarpanch

Annie Coelho was on Monday elected unopposed as sarpanch of Calangute Panchayat.
The post had fallen vacant after former sarpanch Philomena Fernandes resigned from the post as part of a mutual understanding among the ruling panchas.
At the election meeting, the other 10 panchas were present, while former sarpanch Philomena Fernandes remained absent.
As Coelho was the lone panch who had filed her nomination, she was elected unopposed as sarpanch.
Bardez Block Development official Krishna Gadekar was the election officer and he was assisted by panchayat secretary Eknath Talkar.
