Smiles lit the faces of traditional fishermen inhabiting the Benaulim coastline as their country-made motorized canoes netted a sizeable catch of the prized solar shrimp on Saturday.
A number of canoes, which ventured out in the sea after the rough weather conditions subsided since Friday, reported a moderate to good catch of the prized shrimps.
A visit to the Benaulim coast revealed hectic activity as the traditional fishermen were all huddled together to sort out the catch.
With the fish formalin row fresh in the minds of fish-loving Goans, the local fishermen told the media that the catch netted by the canoes using traditional fish gear is free from chemicals and other preservatives.
“The fish caught by us is fresh and free from any preservatives. We will take the fish to the markets and whatever remains will be stored in ice for sale on Sunday,” the fishermen told the media.
