MARGAO

Town and Country Planning Minister Vijai Sardesai has said he has become an easy target for his opponents after the Goa Forward Party extended support to the BJP to form the coalition government.

He reiterated that the GFP had supported the BJP to form the government on certain issues and to do work in the constituencies.

He said the row over fish has been resolved and put the onus on FDA, which comes under the health ministry headed by Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, to check the quality of fish brought into the markets.

Speaking to the media at the government multipurpose complex, Borda, after a review of the building, the TCP Minister without taking names said certain politicians, who

have been defeated in the election, were trying to make a comeback by raking up the fish issue.

“I have nothing to say on the issue as I feel it stands resolved. The Health Minister has announced in the House periodic checks would be carried out to check the quality of fish. I have nothing more to say,” he said.

On the new multipurpose building, Sardesai said work on the ambitious project, which includes a new building for the secondary and higher secondary school, besides the college and ITI, will commence from Independence Day.

“Besides a new building for these institutes, a football playground of world-class standard will be built in

the complex. The cricket ground will also be re-developed,” he said.

Saying that some people tried to divide the communities on the question of football and cricket ground, Sardesai appealed to the vested interests not to create divisions amongst the people for ulterior motives when he was ready to take into account public suggestions.
