According to the residents, despite repeated demands for tarring the road, the authorities concerned have failed to look into the matter. On Tuesday, some locals went to the office of Valpoi PWD (roads) and questioned why there was delay in solving the demand of the locals.
"A road in village is a basic need of every villager, but the Ansolem villagers
have to struggle for such a facility," regretted a village youth, Ashok Desai.
Desai requested the official to visit the village to see the condition of the road.
"A stretch of road of about 3 kms is full of potholes and it is difficult for the vehicles to ply on the road. This village is a part of Bhironda Panchayat and the issue was highlighted several times in the gram sabha, but nothing positive came out," he said.
After listening to the villagers, assistant engineer Mahajan said: "The
road proposal is already ready but we are waiting for green signal from the local
MLA as per the guidelines from the department higher authorities."
"Without their say, we are not able to move the proposal to the higher authorities," he said.
The villagers demanded solving the issue as early as possible, failing which they threatened to agitate.
Speaking to the reporters, the villagers said the condition of the road is
very bad with many
potholes and it is very difficult for a four wheeler to ply on this road.
